Romance - Country Music Style

Ms. Keevil is a good storyteller.  I'll say that right out.  She has a good grasp of storyline, she's succinct and to the point, her characters are engaging, and she knows where she's taking them.  She also knows her genre, exactly how to manipulate the careful and exact formula of "boy-meets-girl, misunderstanding occurs, yet somehow Love Triumphs Over All in the end" which rules the Romance novel, whether your heroine wears Empire dresses or tight blue jeans.

The story is of Colton Wright, country music superstar (ala Garth Brooks, an on-stage maniac in an oversized cowboy hat), and Reanne Parker, Nashville morning DJ.  Their chance meeting is the coincidence that all romance novels are drawn on; of course they must spat at first, but quickly each finds that the other is exactly what both of them have been looking for all these lonely years. 

Colton, superstar deluxe, is nursing a broken heart (the only thing left him by his unfeeling first wife, who marched out on him ten years ago); Reanne is suffering from the stage fright that derailed her own country music career before it could even get started.  Reanne is just what Colton's aching heart is seeking.  Colton is exactly the sort of person Reanne needs to help her regain her lost self confidence.  They only need to find that each other is exactly what they need.  It just takes the usual roller coaster ride full of misunderstandings and obstacles to get them to find that out.  It's an enjoyable read, tense in all the right places, and truly, a very, very good first romance novel.
